Microtoxin is injected into masseters in those desiring a more aesthetically pleasing, slimmer, oval-shaped lower face. This is a special request in East Asian patients, where a square-shaped jaw is associated more with masculinity. Now a days, many young girls and boys visit our clinic to achieve a slimmer leaner face.
In all the techniques, the injection in the muscle are given deep into the muscle, with a 30 G needle. 25-30U are given on each side.

Points to Remember

There may or may not be slight discomfort post injection for around 1-2 days; ice application may alleviate the same.
Counselling of the patient is done regarding post injection difficulties in chewing that may remain for as long as 4 weeks.
The effects of masseter injection are generally seen later, compared to the sites of microtoxin injection, i.e. as early as 2 weeks with maximal benefit at 6-8 weeks. Also, the effects last longer than other sites, i.e. 6 months to a year.
